Volunteers needed for a study into how people experience therapy for PTSD when they lack trauma memories
Hannah May is a researcher at the University of Bath. Hannah is looking for people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but do not recall the trauma's cause.
There are some well-evidenced psychological therapies available to help people recover from PTSD, but they all involve working with or “reprocessing” the trauma memories in some form. Some people who have experienced trauma, however, cannot remember what happened to them but still experience many of the difficult and distressing symptoms of PTSD. There has been no research into how people in this situation experience assessment and therapy.
